“The soul, fortunately, has an interpreter – often an unconscious but still a faithful interpreter – in the eye.” – Jane Eyre.
Eyes are often referred as windows of the soul. Eyes convey more than words can ever do. In the world of makeup, nothing holds more importance than the eye. Overdoing or underdoing it can make or break someone’s day. The colour of the eyes is determined by the genes a person inherits. There are different coloured eyes – blue, green, hazel, amber, etc. But almost 55% of the world population possess brown eyes. The colour is formed because of the pigment melanin present in the iris. The colour of the eyes can range from light brown to almost black. Since brown is a neutral colour, almost all shades complement and enhance colour of the eyes.
Below are the steps that should be followed for brown eye makeup look:
Moisturise: The skin around eyes are more delicate than rest of the facial skin, hence a good moisturiser should be applied every day to keep it hydrated.
Primer: Using a good primer helps in setting up the base for applying the shadows as well as smoothens out the skin and creates a barrier between skin and makeup products.
Concealer: Concealer should be used to cover blemishes, dark circles or uneven skin tones.
Eyeshadow: Eyeshadow will aid in giving that pop of colour to your lids and can elevate a simple look to instant glam!
- For a basic everyday look, chose a neutral colour that matches your skin tone.
- For a more pronounced look nude shades with shimmer can be used
- For bold looks one can experiment with bright or metallic colours such as red, blue, gold, bronze etc.
Eyeliners: Eyeliners are must for any makeup look. Thick lines are preferred for bigger eyes and thinner lines for smaller eyes which helps to open it up and appear larger. Eyeliners come in different colours such as blue, green, turquoise, purple, gold, silver, etc. Purple and shades of plum complements brown eyes well.
Mascara: Mascara is the quintessential eye product. When it is applied well, the product creates darker, longer and fluttery eyelashes. Mascara is also available in different colours, but black is the colour that complements brown eyes the most.
Kohl: Though underrated it can do wonders for the whole look. A swipe on the lower lash line gives definition to the whole eye. In addition to the traditional black kohl, white kohl helps to create illusion of bright open eyes.
In addition to all this, fake eyelashes can be used to create a more dramatic look. And finally, don’t forget to colour your cheeks as well. Even if you have done your eyes beautifully, neglecting the rest of your face will kill the overall effect.
The motto “less is more” should be applied in following the above steps to achieve the perfect makeup for brown eyes. Remember to choose a suitable color palette and experiment away!
